The Price of College Continues to Rise But is Still a Great Investment
This is a good news / badnews story. First the bad news (let’s get it out of the way). A recent 2008 survey published by The CollegeBoard showed that the overall cost of college continues to rise. Tution, fees, room and board at public four year colleges averaged $10,471 in 1998. That rose to $ 14,333 in 2008. In Private colleges it rose from $27, 580 to $34,132. Now the good news. This is still a great investment. You will get the money back many times over. The latest Census data shows that people who have a college degree earn 67% more than those with only a high school diploma. People with Masters Degrees earn 20% more than those who have Bachelors Degrees.
